Boca Raton, FL (December 23, 2021) – At 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon, December 22, a driver was killed in a fatal train accident in Boca Raton.
According to Boca Raton Police, the accident happened at 1900 Southwest 18th Street around the area of Hillsboro Boulevard and Palmetto Park Road. A Tri-Rail train, identified as a 630 North train, was headed north at the time. The train was unable to stop when a vehicle appeared on the tracks as it crossed the railroad. The train and the vehicle sustained immense damages as a result of the accident.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The driver of the vehicle that was struck sustained traumatic injuries in the accident. The injured party was pronounced dead at the scene.
Due to the severity of the accident, a large portion of the roadway and the railroad tracks were blocked for a period of time. Northbound service was delayed until the scene was cleared.
