Hollywood, FL (January 9, 2022) – On Sunday morning, January 9, a woman was killed in a fatal car crash at an intersection in Hollywood.
According to Hollywood Police, the accident happened at the intersection of North 32nd Avenue and Johnson Street. The roads were covered due to rain. A red Dodge Viper was traveling in the area when the driver suddenly smashed into a tree, then causing the vehicle to drive through a fence. This caused the vehicle to split in half. Debris flew out of the crash scene, which struck a homeless man on a bench nearby.
Numerous responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were immediately called to the scene to help those in need. Paramedics confirmed that two people inside the Viper were pronounced dead at the scene. One of those victims has since been identified as 22-year-old Julia Alvarez. The homeless man sustained a cut on his head from the debris but is expected to recover.
The roadway was blocked in several lanes for a period of time following the collision.
