Lauderhill, FL (September 14, 2021) – Around 2:30 a.m. on Monday morning, September 13, an apartment fire occurred in Lauderhill.
According to Lauderhill officials, the accident happened at the Waterford Park Apartments at 7465 Northwest 44th Street. Fire crews initially received multiple 911 calls after multiple people saw black smoke pouring out of a first-floor apartment in the area. Fire crews arrived at the scene and saw heavy smoke and flames shooting out of the window.
Fire crews worked to evacuate the entire apartment building, which consisted of approximately 20 individuals. The crews were able to get the entire fire under control quickly, keeping it from spreading to other units. A man and woman were in the apartment that caught on fire but they were able to get out.
Paramedics and numerous other responders were called to the scene. The man and the woman from inside the apartment unit were both taken to Tamarac University Medical Center for smoke inhalation treatment.
Property managers have said that the home is uninhabitable at this time until fixes are made.
