Oakland Park, FL (November 30, 2021) – Around 6 a.m. on Monday morning, November 30, a fatal pedestrian accident occurred in Oakland Park.
According to Broward County officials, the accident happened on the FEC Railroad near the area of South Commercial Boulevard. A pedestrian, who has not yet been identified, was walking in the area and started to cross the tracks. A train started passing through the area and collided with the pedestrian. The train immediately came to a stop following the collision.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries. Nobody on the train was hurt.
The area was blocked off for an extended period of time as police worked to clear the scene.
