Sunrise, FL (November 19, 2021) – On Thursday night, November 18, a fatal rear-end crash occurred at an intersection in Sunrise.
According to police, the accident happened at the intersection of Northwest 136th Avenue and Sunrise Boulevard. A Lexus was driving north at the intersection at a high rate of speed when it suddenly slammed into the back of a Nissan that was stopped at a red light. The vehicles involved were extensively damaged. The Lexus, which had front-end damage, had to be removed from the scene by a tow truck.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The driver of the Nissan, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries. The driver and the passenger inside the Lexus were both hospitalized with minor injuries but are expected to be okay.
Due to the severity of the accident, the intersection was blocked in the area for several hours.
