Fort Lauderdale FL (June 21, 2021) – On Friday morning, June 18, a fatal hit-and-run pedestrian accident occurred on a highway in Fort Lauderdale.
According to Florida Highway Patrol officials, the accident happened in the northbound lanes of I-95 around the area of Broward Boulevard. A male pedestrian was walking in the area when he was suddenly struck by a vehicle that immediately fled the scene.
Paramedics and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help. The pedestrian, who has not yet been officially identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have not yet found the driver responsible for the accident. Due to the severity of the crash, two right lanes of traffic were blocked in the area for a period of time.
No further details have been released but the investigation into the accident continues.
