Hollywood, FL (October 9, 2021) – On Saturday morning, October 9, a woman was killed in a fatal collision on a highway in Hollywood.
According to Florida Highway Patrol officials, the accident happened in the southbound lanes of I-95 around the area of Sheridan Street. Two vehicles were allegedly involved in a separate accident. The vehicles were stopped in the inside lane of traffic. Four people, identified as the drivers and passengers from their vehicles, were standing outside their cars. That’s when a third vehicle did not slow down and slammed into one of the stopped vehicles. All four pedestrians were struck by the vehicle.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. One of the victims, identified as a 34-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene due to her injuries. Four others, identified as a 34-year-old man, a 27-year-old man, a 24-year-old woman, and a 39-year-old man driving the third vehicle were injured. Their conditions are not known at this time, though several sustained serious injuries.
Due to the severity of the crash, traffic was backed up for several hours until police cleared the scene.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
