Lake Worth, FL (August 15, 2021) – On Thursday night, August 12, a man was killed in a fatal bicycle crash in Lake Worth.
According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened on Lake Worth Road. A Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck was traveling in the area when it struck a bicyclist also traveling in the area. The bicyclist and truck were headed eastbound. Following the crash, the bicyclist was dragged under the pickup truck. Police confirmed that the pickup truck driver fled the scene.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The bicyclist, who has not yet been identified, was seriously injured in the crash. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Due to the severity of the accident, the roadway was blocked for a period of time. It is not known if the responsible party was found by police.
No further details have been released but the investigation continues.
