Miami, FL – Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crash at NW 1st St & 26th Ave

Miami, FL (December 15, 2021) – At 6 p.m. on Tuesday evening, December 14, a hit-and-run pedestrian crash occurred at an intersection in Miami.

 

According to officials, the accident happened at the intersection of Northwest 1st Street and 26th Avenue. An elderly woman was walking through the intersection when a vehicle started to drive through the intersection at the same time. The vehicle, identified as an Inifiniti that went through the stop sign, ran into the elderly woman and did not stop. She was almost struck by another vehicle but it was able to stop in time.

 

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The woman, identified as 77-year-old Edelmira Barrios, was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. She received a hip fracture and other injuries due to the accident.

 

The roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection for a period of time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene.

 

No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.
