Miami, FL (December 19, 2021) – On Saturday, December 18, a car crash injured an officer at an intersection in Miami.
According to officials, the accident happened at the intersection of Northwest 5th Street and Le Jeune Road. A police officer was part of a funeral escort in the area and was traveling north near the intersection. At that time, a gray Nissan Armada started to make a turn at the intersection, crashing into the police officer’s cruiser. The Nissan sustained severe front-end damage due to the accident.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The injured officer sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Ryder Trauma Center for treatment of his injuries. The driver of the Nissan, identified as a 68-year-old man, was not hurt but remained at the scene.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection for some time as police worked to clear the scene.
No further details have been released but the investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
