Miami, FL – Train Crash with Injuries at N Miami Ave & 20th St

Miami, FL (January 13, 2022) – At 8:30 a.m. on Thursday morning, January 13, a train crash occurred at an intersection in Miami.

Miami Police confirmed that the accident happened on the railroad tracks around the area of North Miami Avenue and 20th Street. A Brightline train was traveling in the area when it suddenly collided with a Ford Explorer that was stopped on the train tracks and could not cross in time. One person inside the Explorer was able to get out of the vehicle before it was struck by the train but two other adults were inside.

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. An elderly man and his daughter, who were inside the vehicle at the time of the crash, were transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital for treatment of their injuries. They are expected to be okay.

Due to the severity of the accident, a large portion of the tracks and the road were blocked in that area.

No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
