Miami, FL – Update: Mark James Killed in Fatal Bicycle Crash on NW 12th Ave

Miami, FL (December 28, 2021) – At 6:45 a.m. on the morning of Monday, December 27, a man was killed in a fatal bicycle crash in Miami. Police have since identified the victim.

 

According to Miami Police, the accident happened at the intersection of Northwest 12th Avenue and 51st Street. A bicyclist was allegedly traveling in the area when they were suddenly struck by a passenger vehicle. The driver of the vehicle allegedly fled the scene. Police confirmed that the bicyclist was left on the side of the road.

 

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The bicyclist, who has since been identified as 44-year-old Mark James, was taken to a trauma center with severe injuries. He was tragically pronounced dead while there.

 

Police later arrested the suspect who fled the scene of the accident. The suspect has since been identified as George Luis Amparo, who is facing the charge of leaving the scene of a fatal accident.

 

The roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection for an extended period of time.

 

No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
