Wilton Manors, FL (December 29, 2021) – On Monday, December 27, two children were killed in a fatal pedestrian accident in Wilton Manors.
According to Broward County officials, the accident happened at 2417 Northwest Ninth Avenue in the area of Northwest 24th Street. Police confirmed that 27-year-old Sean Charles Greer was traveling in a Honda sedan headed southbound. Greer was originally stopped behind a Broward County transit bus that was stopping so that it could drop off a passenger. Greer did not allow the bus to merge and started passing it. The vehicle then veered right and drove off the side of the road and onto a sidewalk. Greer’s vehicle struck a group of children and then fled the scene.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. Two children in the group were pronounced dead at the scene, identified as a 5-year-old girl and a 6-year-old girl. Four children were also injured in the accident. They have since been identified as two 9-year-old girls, a 2-year-old boy, and a 10-year-old boy.
Police found the vehicle’s bumper at the scene of the crash. Greer later confessed to fleeing the scene of the accident. He has since been charged with leaving the scene of the collision involving death and injury, tampering with evidence, driving without a license causing death, and more.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the families of the deceased victims at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
