Pompano Beach, FL (January 21, 2022) – A woman was killed in a pedestrian crash that took place following a foot chase in Pompano Beach on Tuesday, January 18.
Broward County officials confirmed that the accident happened around 6:30 a.m. on Northwest 6th Avenue. A woman was allegedly being chased on foot by a man. She started running through the Pat Larkins Community Center parking lot and then onto the road at Northwest 6th Avenue. While on the road, she was struck by a Toyota Camry. Police confirmed that the man who was chasing her caught up to her and laid on top of her, when they were both struck a second time by a Honda Civic.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. Both the female and male pedestrian were injured and transported to local hospitals. The woman was pronounced dead later that evening.
The driver of both vehicles remained on scene and were not injured. It is not believed that anybody was charged for the accident.
Due to the severity of the accident, the roadway was blocked in the area of the accident for some time.
