Lake Worth, FL (September 5, 2021) – On Friday afternoon, September 3, a man was killed in a fatal train crash in Lake Worth.
According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened on the train tracks near the Morning Star Road area. A man identified as 37-year-old Danilo Vargas was driving his dump truck in the area when he crossed over the railroad crossing. A Georgia Pacific train was unable to stop in time and slammed into the truck, pushing it a short distance before the train came to a complete stop.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. Vargas was ejected from his truck and was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of traumatic injuries. Nobody else was injured in the accident.
The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time until police were able to clear the scene.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
