Oakland Park, FL – Fatal Pedestrian Accident Involving Train on W Prospect Blvd

Oakland Park, FL (August 17, 2021) – Around 8:45 a.m. on Monday morning, August 16, a fatal pedestrian accident occurred in Oakland Park involving a train.

 

According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened on the train tracks around the area of West Prospect Boulevard and Powerline Road. A Tri-Rail train was traveling in the area when it collided with a pedestrian who was crossing the tracks due to unknown reasons.

 

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately called to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian, who has not yet been formally identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.

 

The area was blocked off for a period of time as police worked to clear the scene. Photographs showed a body covered with a yellow tarp for some time.

 

No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.
